The Phipps Houses Group and Juice Energy team up to keep affordable housing "affordable"
May 9, 2008 - The Phipps Houses Group – the nation’s oldest, and one of the largest not-for-profit developers of low-cost housing – has joined forces with Juice Energy in an effort to help stem rising electricity costs. With a focus on New York City neighborhoods, Phipps Houses builds and maintains affordable housing as part of its mission to create and sustain enduring communities.
Juice Energy, based in New York, specializes in custom electricity solutions for their clients, and constantly monitors the market to ensure that they are providing their customers with the absolute lowest rates possible. Through the use of Juice’s unique methods, Phipps Houses will be positioned to take advantage of the volatility in the electricity market, thus creating significant savings on their energy usage.
The contract, which went into effect in early 2008, brings state-of-the-art electricity strategies to an organization over 100 years old. Founded in 1905, Phipps Houses has grown to provide over 15,000 people with homes in the New York metropolitan area. Juice will be supplying forty-five Phipps Houses locations with electricity supply, totaling an annual electric usage of 36,492,319 kWhs.
“Juice’s approach to electricity supply more closely resembles that of a financial advisor than a traditional utility company,” commented Ed Rogers, Corporate VP of Finance & Operations of Phipps Houses. Rogers added, “Their value proposition is different from anything else that is available in the electricity marketplace.” By designing products with only the client in mind, Juice consistently outperforms standard fixed-cost contracts, popular with most suppliers. In addition to the front-end potential savings, Phipps Houses will work closely with a Juice Energy Advisor to make changes to their strategy, as needed.
Brian Hayduk, co-founder of Juice Energy is looking forward to working with his company’s newest client: “Every day we help businesses and organizations save money by radically changing the way they purchase electricity. Now we’re working with a group of people who also help others each and every day. We are thrilled to be partnering with Phipps Houses so they can continue to do what they’ve done for a long, long time – give thousands of fellow New Yorkers a place to call home.”
